    Åhléns City Beauty department
Interior design for fashion and beauty

Ever since Åhléns City opened in Stockholm in Autumn 1964, the building with the mighty blue and gold clock on its facade has been one of the capital’s best-known landmarks. Since August 2013 the department store has also been home to Scandinavia’s largest beauty department.

It was for this department that TEA was hired to create a decor that breathed beauty, and that took advantage of the store’s history and its central location that generates a constant through-flow of people.

This spacious hub for international fragrances and beauty is illuminated by ceiling lamps that were used already when Åhléns City was inaugurated. And to awaken the curiosity of the customers TEA engaged the renowned illustrator Stina Wirsén. Her elegant illustrations were hand-painted onto the department’s walls that were decked in hand-made tiles from Askersunds tile-maker.

People who haven’t had the opportunity to visit the department store have nonetheless also been able to see the concept. Åhléns has used several of the details and elements created specifically for the beauty department as part of its external marketing.
