    Solhem och Smörblomman
    For meetings between generations.

The common main entrance houses a combined dining and assembly hall and a café run by residents of an LSS residence in the immediate area.

The entrance is the building’s hub and social meeting place, where preschool children, the elderly, friends and family can meet and socialize. The court yard is large with outdoor spaces dedicated both for the children and for the elderly. In addition to this, they share greenhouses, plantations, pergolas and outdoor gyms. The closeness between the children and the elderly creates opportunities for meetings and relationships across generational boundaries. Office space is shared wich enables personnel synergies and creates security. The care and nursing home on two floors and the preschool on one floor are nicely fitted into Mönsterås residential community. A varied roof landscape gives a clear identity, and robust and natural materials such as brick, wood and green roofs provide a sustainable building with a long life. The preschool’s playful and colorful interiors create a interesting and elaborate indoor environment. Solhem and Smörblomman were ready for occupation by the spring of 2020.
