The Swedish Institute in Paris
TEA:s contribution at Swedish design Moves Paris
In 2017, the Swedish Institute in Paris was reopened after an extensive renovation of the public spaces. In the 16th-century building of Hôtel de Marle, there are six guest apartments that each year serves as temporary homes for 80–100 Swedish researchers, cultural workers and artists.
The apartments are now being renovated to further strengthen the design profile and reflect Swedish design and craftsmanship. The guest apartments, which are now shown to the public for the first time, are part of the five-year exhibition Home x 6.
“In this stage of our design journey, we want to give love and design to our residences. The feeling of care should permeate every detail. Together with our leading companies and designers, we work to create a Swedish design embassy in Paris for our visitors “, says Ewa Kumlin, head of the Swedish Institute in Paris who has made the artistic selection of companies participating in the exhibition.
“My goal has been to create a quiet and inspiring place, a temporary home for relaxation and togetherness. Here are connections to Swedish culture, old and new interior art gathered in a studio with its own atmosphere and expression,” says Ulf Agnér, responsible interior designer at TEA.
