Calm spaces in intensive transfer areas
Since 2013 TEA has been collaborating with Stockholm Design Lab on a continuous re-design of all of Swedavia’s airports. TEA is handling the interior design while SDL is doing the displays.
Swedavia’s different airports have varying degrees of need for a refresh or overhaul. The most extensive work has been carried out at Arlanda airport where terminals 4 and 5 have been fitted with new carpets, furniture, wall panels and lighting, followed by new check-in counters and security control areas.
A sober colour pallet was chosen with a graphite-grey base to create a sense of calm in an otherwise intensive milieu. TEA also specially designed standing-height furniture with integrated lighting and electricity points for charging phones, tablets and computers.
In 2014, the travel agent eDreams ranked the best airports in the world. Arlanda landed at third place, thanks to high scores in the category of “best waiting areas.”
