Active homes in a new city neighbourhood
TEA has designed the apartment buildings in one of the first neighbourhoods in Barkabystaden, a new suburb in the north of Stockholm, homes for people wanting to live an active life in a dynamic area.
Hired by BRABO, a privately owned family business and subsidiary to Mattssons Fastighetsutveckling AB (real estate), TEA has created a neighbourhood with modern and functional housing in line with BRABO’s philosophy of challenging conventional thinking.
A new concept was developed along the way, BRABO Aktiv. The apartment building includes a gym and spa, a hobby room and extra storage – all adapted for an active lifestyle. Additionally, the residence is characterised by large social areas and glassed stairways that provide a natural, visual deconstruction and variation in the neighbourhood.
The first 71 apartments were ready in the beginning of 2015. In January 2016, residents moved into another 85 apartments. It appears that the concept and character of the buildings appeal to many, as the apartments sold out quickly in both stages.
