Varpen
Warm atmosphere at Segeltorp
On behalf of BRABO, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mattssons Fastighetsutveckling AB (real estate), TEA has designed three apartment buildings in Segeltorp, Huddinge, just south of Stockholm.
Varpen, a neighbourhood with 66 rental apartments, was constructed during 2012 and 2013 as the first stage in a new residential area in Huddinge municipality.
The project involved creating apartments of 1 to 4 rooms with high accommodation quality. Practical and esthetical were the guiding principles, with a strong emphasis on economic sustainability. The three four-storey buildings form a small and pleasant neighbourhood with a leafy garden with outside seating and play areas. The floor plans are characterised by living rooms and kitchens that stretch through the apartment creating a link to both the street and the garden.
A warm atmosphere pervades the area thanks to the monochrome colours of the building facades in nuances of terracotta, and the car-free south facing garden. This is enhanced further by the placement of the buildings on the land – together the three properties form a protective screen against the north and the busy access road to the E4 motorway into central Stockholm.
