Villa Elfvik
Discrete and luxurious residence on Lidingö
In 2009 TEA was hired to create a private home in Elfvik on the north-eastern part of Lidingö island on the outskirts of Stockholm. The land is located on the brow of a hill and the villa, with its low wood-clad facade, melts seamlessly into the surrounding meadows. Hidden behind the discrete exterior is a spacious interior, with a generous view of Askrikefjärden bay and the inner archipelago.
Overall, the idea was to design a building based on a large roof that defines the outer boundaries of the house. In this way, the entrances, balconies and terraces are protected by the same roof, without making the design more complex.
The southern entrance comes in to the upper floor with social areas, the kitchen, living room, a master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and a guest room. One floor down is the souterrain level that accommodates a cinema, two bedrooms, a wine cellar and a spa with a sauna and hot tub. A spiral staircase leads from the souterrain to the garage, which has space for two cars.
